In the Bible God tells us “To bring the whole tithe into the storehouse…”.   By giving faithfully lives can be changed and the Great Commission fulfilled. We must try to be faithful to God’s teachings so that all that He wishes to accomplish can come to fruition. My husband has had the great privilege of working with the Disaster Recovery Team at Summerville Baptist Church. He has seen firsthand the devastation of a natural disaster, and the utter hopelessness that the victims of the disaster feel. He has also seen the relief on the victim’s faces when they see that help has arrived. Churches are the number one source of help when a disaster strikes, providing everything from food and clothing to land clearing and rebuilding. These families are touched in so many ways: mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Some are Christian, some are not, but by the time the Disaster Team leaves they are all very thankful and thinking very seriously about their own spiritual lives. 

This program is made possible through our giving.   God has a whole host of blessings that He wants to shower upon us, but we hold him back by not doing our part. We need to be faithful to His teachings and practice Biblical giving so that programs like this can continue, and because….It is simply the right thing to do.
