Giving Because
Giving Because...Blesses our Nation and Community
Stephen Sammons

Have you ever wondered why things are like they are in our community and in our nation? Can we, as a church, do something to affect this? The Bible gives us the answers to many of life’s issues we face.

As I was preparing for my Sunday School lesson, I came across this answer. The first thing we can do is to pray because it says in God’s Word “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Ch 7:14.

The second thing we can do is to cheerfully give our tithes and offerings. The Bible states clearly what God says. “Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse – the whole nation of you – because you are robbing me.” Malachi 3:8.

You have read in other “Giving Because…” letters about the things your offerings can buy that affect the lives around you. But consider this, in being obedient to God’s Word; Giving is an Act of worship. There is joy that comes from cheerfully giving to the Lord and trusting Him that it will be spent according to His will. The blessings that He will bestow on us as a nation and community through our act of worship will be beyond our ability to imagine. God wants to bless us and is only looking for us to give ourselves in faith to Him.
