Dear Fellow Member,
The Bible says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce” (Proverbs 3: 9). This is the principle of tithing. Tithing is an act of worship. We’re giving to God. God says, “Put me first in your life and watch what I do.” It seems illogical that when we have a need, we should give. That’s why it requires faith.
As we enter into a new church year, we find ourselves in a similar situation as last year, where giving is down, resulting in the church’s inability to meet the church approved budget and debt requirements. Below is a list of some of the ministry areas affected to help you understand the situation.
· Church Reserve (Contingency)
· Office and Teaching Supplies, Literature and Magazines
· Monthly Debt Payment
· Cooperative Program
· Major Repairs being delayed or put on hold.
· Conventions, Seminars, Training, and Conferences
· Special Events
The Stewardship Committee has been meeting and discussing cost containment strategies, but that alone is not enough to continue various ministries and obligations of the church. The Bible states, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” (2 Corinthians 9:6)
As we all know these are tough economic times with many challenges. These challenges can cause fear and uncertainty. But please remember that God is with us through these times. He has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us. The Bible also tells us that if we are faithful, He will provide. We encourage everyone to claim God’s promises and be faithful, not fearful. May God continue to bless you, and at all times and in all ways may everything we do honor and glorify Him.
Sincerely,
Matt Provost
Chairman, Stewardship Committee
