Summertime is here, and the low country temperatures reflect the heat daily. After last summer's shutdowns and limitations, it seems people this summer are on the move, traveling more, visiting family, taking some much-needed vacation time to get away and relax.
While vacations are needed to get away from our routines and relax, rest for our souls is also required. Matthew 11:28-30 says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Living life requires a time to connect with Jesus, giving our burdens to Him daily, and finding our refreshment in His presence. Personal worship should always be a part of our lives as we share an intimate time with Jesus, our Savior, daily. Don't let your quiet time with God go on vacation this summer. Find ways to connect with God no matter where you may be - at home or traveling on the road.
Keep in contact with your small group, watch services online, plan to have dinner with a ministry group in which you serve. Summer gives us time to connect with God and with fellow Christ-followers. We also get opportunities to spend time with those who need to know Jesus. Connect with God and others this summer to refresh your souls. You need that refreshment. After all, school does start back in about a month.
